This is not just a usual music festival (Read about Christmas festivals in here), this will enable you to embrace and experience the true Rajasthani culture by camping in the desert. There are four stages for music here and you can also experience other activities like film, art, photography, paint ball and much more. Every year since 2012, the dunes of Jaisalmer provide a stunning background to a plethora of cultures, music and fun.
These three days offer the music lovers a crazy music experience that they will ever see and experience. There’s even a separate film screening tent which showcases some vintage films, from the sixties and eighties.
The four crazy stages offer something for everyone. The Mario stage features top artists from the pop, alternative and rock genre. The Ammara stage features electronic and dub-step music for all you party lovers. The Olun stage features world music, fusion and folk; for people who love fusion tunes. For all the foodies, there’s a separate zone called “Mauro” where there’s a bar facility as well. The many food stalls and counters are in a zone called “Khammi Ghaani Sa”. For all the adventure seekers and for people who love doing something different, there’s a zone called “Udham”. Here you can indulge in fun activities like paintball, hot air ballooning and many more adventurous stuff!
There’s even something for the art aficionados, a tent called “Galiyaro”. This area is dedicated to arts and crafts! The artists zone is where artists from all the world display their art in various form of sculptures, photos, pottery and much more.
The History of Ragasthan
Keith Menon, the founder of this festival, proposed the idea of a desert festival in 2008. The festival first took place in November 2012, at the Kanoi Dunes, Jaisalmer. People were invited to the site by buses and other patrons were invited to set up their own stalls in the desert.
There were jam sessions by the campfire, crazy art collaborations and the festival gained popularity. It was attended by over 6000 people over three days! Ragasthan 2012, featured four music stages, workshop zones, adventure sports area, flea market zone and two camping zones. Camel rides were used as a means of transport in the premises.
