We have started our blog journey recently & it was a great moment for us when we came to know that New Routes nominated us for the prestigious Liebster Awards! New Routes’s blog is absolutely marvellous with great helpful content & amazing photos! We love following them & they are an inspiration.
So What Exactly is the Liebster Award?
The Liebster Award is an award that exists only on the internet, and is given to bloggers by other bloggers. The first Liebster Award goes as far back as 2011. Liebster in German means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.
If you have been nominated for the Liebster Award and you choose to accept it, write a blog post about the Liebster award in which you:
- Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog. Try to include a little promotion for the person who nominated you. They will thank you for it and those who you nominate will also help you out as well.
- Create a post on your blog, displaying the Liebster Award logo.
- Nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 3000 followers.
- Come up with 10-11 questions for your nominees.
- List these rules in your post (You can copy and paste from here.)
- Inform the people/blogs that you nominated that they have been nominated for the Liebster award and provide a link for them to your post.

Our answers to New Routes’s questions
Why did you decide to start your blog?
We were sitting having a meal together at a restaurant, which we didn’t like much. We were discussing everything in so much depth, that at that moment I had this idea of a blog. I told Harry, why don’t we start a Food & travel blog?! He agreed! And that’s how it started. 🙂
What is the craziest thing you have ever eaten abroad?
I personally am quite conservative when it comes to food (I’m a Vegetarian.), but Harry can be quite experimental. When he went to Indonesia, Siam Reip, they were serving a Cambodian BBQ platter of Crocodile, Snake & Kangaroo meat! Needless to say, he was quite freaked out. He opted for Chicken only!
Tell us about a destination that you think is underrated and why people should go there:
Bhutan! It’s so so underrated. That also might be because it’s difficult for foreigners apart from Bhutan’s neighbouring countries to get a permit to go there. However, if you manage to go, you will not be disappointed at all! We wrote a blog post about Bhutan.
How many hours a week do you spend working on your blog?
We spend approx. 3-4 hours everyday on the blog, including writing content, promoting on social media, collaborating. It’s so much fun! 🙂
What are useful tools you use to grow your blog? Advice welcome 🙂
We use Google Analytics, Adwords to understand what’s working for us & what isn’t 🙂
What is the most difficult thing about blogging?
Growing your audience. It’s tough to get people to the website & make them stay if you’re fairly new in the blogging business.
Mountains or Ocean?
What is your least favorite part about traveling?
Public loos, haha! One never knows what we might encounter 😛
What is your favorite travel book/film?
Into the wild! We both love love this movie so much, we watch it together a lot of times 🙂 Our favourite travel book is Shantaram, by Gregory David Roberts.
What is your favorite post that you’ve written? (Please provide link!)
