If you’re like me, you may not have heard about Lumbini in Nepal. Known as Buddha’s birth place, Lumbini is a pristine town in Nepal. Though an unexplored part of Nepal, this place is worth a visit. Located away from the Himalayas and closer to the border of Nepal, Lumbini is one of the worlds most important site for Buddhists. Fascinated by Buddhism, we decided to pay it a visit and stay the Tiger Palace resort in Lumbini.
Though Lumbini is a sleepy little town amidst the fields, as soon as we entered Tiger Palace Resort it was luxury unparalleled. After a tiresome overnight train journey from Delhi to Gorakhpur, we couldn’t be happier when we arrived at Tiger Palace. The resort is sprawled over 22 acres and has over 100 rooms and suites. They even have a Casino! Probably one of their most amazing entertainment features.
Our spacious room overlooked the beautifully landscaped lawns and pool. Along with a comfortable bed, the room also had a flat screen 42’’ TV, WiFi and everything we needed for our 3 day trip!

Of course we were super hungry after such a long journey, hence we decided to binge. Their restaurant Ramro Chawk offers casual dining and sumptuous dishes. We were definitely not disappointed with our amazing meal and courteous staff. If you’re in the mood for swimming or having a drink, you can go to their other restaurant, Cabana Avenue. Overlooking the beautiful pool with a swim-up bar, this place is perfect to relax and rejuvenate.
After a great meal, we decided to visit the Casino! This is one of the biggest casinos in Nepal and offers three distinct gaming zones, it has a VIP area for seasoned players and has 44 gaming tables! Needless to say, we had an incredible experience. A rushed game of roulette, some wins and we were off!
They even had a spa, but we didn’t have time to explore the same.

The next day we set out to explore the beautiful city of Lumbini. When here, you can visit the exact place where Lord Buddha was born in 623 B.C. Now even though its mostly ruins, but they have been preserved since centuries and its an amazing sight to see. Lumbini also has over 25 international Buddhist monasteries built by several countries like Germany, France, China, Japan and more. One of the best monastery is Germany’s. It is beautifully built with intricate paintings and sculptures. All the monasteries are located close to each other and its easy to explore all of them.
Needless to say, our lovely stay in Lumbini was made even more special thanks to Tiger Palace Resort. If you’re ever in Nepal, don’t forget to pay this place a visit!
